The achievement of the mission and objectives of the PPGZ requires an adequate infrastructure. In recent years, the PPGZ has been improving and expanding its infrastructure according to the availability of resources.

Most of the PPGZ infrastructure was build using resources from UFRPE, projects approved at Funding Authority for Studies and Projects (FINEP), PRÓ-EQUIPAMENTOS/CAPES, and PRÓ-EQUIPAMENTOS/FACEPE. The ability of professors of PPGZ to attract funds individually and/or collectively at various funding agencies, such as CNPq, CAPES, FACEPE, PRONEX, and PRONEM (FACEPE), Banco do Nordeste do Brasil (BNB), as well as in private companies (Zinpro, Nutrimais, Ajinomoto, Inpasa, Ingredion) should be highlighted.

The experimental facilities are located at the Department of Animal Science (DZ), and are composed of appropriate physical facilities for different research involving animals from different species such as goats, sheep, fistulated dairy heifers, buffaloes, poultry, pigs, as well as the feed and mill processing sector. Additionally, the Animal Nutrition Laboratory (LNA), Northeast Dairy Herd Management Program (PROGENE), Applied Molecular Biology Laboratory (BIOPA), and Animal Products Evaluation Laboratory are part of PPGZ infrastructure.

An agreement between UFRPE and Agronomic Institute of Pernambuco (IPA), allow the use of some experimental stations of IPA to conducted applied research.  Professors of PPGZ has been conducting research at IPA Experimental Station - São Bento do Una, IPA Experimental Station - Arcoverde, involving dairy cattle; and at IPA Experimental Station – Itambé for research in forage breeding and evaluation.

At the main campus of UFRPE in Recife, a multi-user laboratory called Research Support Center (CENAPESQ) was constructed in which are maintained the high-cost equipment used for more sophisticated analysis. Besides the main campus, the researches can be conducted at the facility of Small Animal Experimental Station (EEPAC) of Carpina, where is carried out research with poultry and pigs;  Sugarcane Experimental Station (EECAC) used for field experiments with forages; both located in Carpina-PE; Additionally, some studies are conducted at  the Experimental Farm of UFRPE located in Garanhuns-PE and at Serra Talhada Academic Unit/UFRPE, located in Serra Talhada-PE, where are conducted studies with pig and beef cattle.

Researches conducted at experimental stations may be supported by the Dean of Graduate Studies (PRPG) with a vehicle to travel to experimental sites outside Recife through the program “Pesquisa em Movimento”. Additionally, the institution encourages publication of research articles in high-profile journals by granting annual budget of up to R$ 10,000.00 (Ten thousand reais) per researcher in the program “Publica Rural” on demand.

The university maintain a virtual learning environment that some PPGZ professors already use in their demands. Recently, in 2020, all PPGZ professors were trained to develop activities in a remote environment.

Students and professors may use the SAS and other software packages subscriptions to perform statistical analysis provided by the DZ, which facilitate the data analysis.

The library system of UFRPE is fully computerized, and present a large collection in the area of animal science. It is possible to use the institutional password for remote access to the Portal de Periódicos CAPES. In addition, graduate students of UFRPE may have unlimited access to the Ebrary Academic Complete™ (http://www.sib.ufrpe.br/acessoao-ebrary), which is a database with about 100,000 electronic books.
